Well now... that would explain why my latest fortress is so gem-heavy. I was surprised when I kept running into pockets of gems, but it makes more sense now. -Fuzzy 15:47, 1 September 2008 (EDT)

There is nothing in the matgloss_stone_layer.txt to distinguish schist from other metamorphic layers in gem content. The differences between schist and gneiss are: symbol and color. VengefulDonut 10:13, 12 December 2008 (EST)

And based on matgloss_stone_gem.txt it doesn't contain anything marble doesn't (and marble contains a number of gems Schist does not.) Random832 10:24, 12 December 2008 (EST)
