Granite is one of the types of stone that forms entire layers. Granite is the only material that contains bismuthinite, and the only stone that contains cassiterite. It tends to be one of the more productive of the stone layers.

"Granite" is also the name of the first month of the dwarven calendar, covering early Spring.
